Brighton send scouts to track Rangers teenager Rory Wilson

Brighton have reportedly sent scouts to track Rangers youngster Rory Wilson as they’ve entered the race for his services.

According to the Scottish Daily Express, they’re one of a plethora of English clubs that are keen on signing the 16-year-old this summer.

Rangers legend and former captain David Weir, who’s currently Brighton’s Assistant Technical Director, sent scouts to track the centre-forward ahead of a potential move.

They saw him in action at the recent Scotland games and will once again be looking at him play for the Gers youth team.

He’s already scored 40 goals for them this season which explains why he’s eyed by the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City.

Keep him

The report says that he has yet not informed Gers that he plans on leaving despite the growing interest in his services.

This has come as a relief to Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Ross Wilson as they seemed keen on keeping him at Ibrox.

Nobody has yet agreed a fee to sign him and this could be the perfect opportunity for Gers to tempt him to stay.

If he’s this good at 16, there’s a great chance that in two or three years he could be ready for a first-team role at the club.

They’ve proven that they can keep their exciting prospects at Ibrox as they did with Leon King in January.

Wilson will not be eligible for a pro deal until he turns 17, but they can iron out the finer things later if he’s committed to an Ibrox stay.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
