Aaron Ramsey could miss huge Rangers showdown v Celtic – report

Aaron Ramsey is one of the Rangers stars who could miss the Old Firm game with Celtic on Sunday afternoon.

That’s according to the Glasgow Evening Times, who report that the Welsh international could miss out entirely after his heroics this week.

Ramsey played almost 100 minutes in the 2-1 win over Austria, days after starting the win over Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

Rob Page did admit that Ramsey is likely to be rested against Hungary in their latest friendly, though.

That would hand Giovanni van Bronckhorst a significant boost with Alfredo Morelos also currently a doubt.

Nervous wait.

Whilst there is unwelcome news of another potential knock for the Rangers midfielder, the comments from Page indicate that Ramsey may be left out altogether which could give him time to return to full fitness ahead of Celtic.

The Welshman has found fitness hard to come by in recent years but will be hoping for a regular run of games between now and the end of the season.

The former Arsenal man finally announced himself in the Scottish Premiership when he netted his first Rangers goal at Dundee, showing signs that he could be pivotal to the Light Blues’ title hopes in the remaining seven league matches.

As well as being Europa League Quarter Finalists, Rangers sit just three points behind league leaders Celtic and know that a win at Ibrox on Sunday will take them level with their bitter rivals.

Ramsey will be hopeful, and more than capable, of a major impact if available against Ange Postecoglou’s men.
