Jorg Albertz furious with Daily Record over ‘breach of trust’ with Rangers comments
Former Rangers ace Jorg Albertz has released a statement blasting the Daily Record for taking his comments about the club out of context.
Albertz was part of the Rangers Legends game at the weekend at Ibrox and in his column with the newspaper was quoted as saying the removal of some ex-pros as ambassadors was ‘concerning’.
He also was quoted as saying the whole situation was ‘ugly and unbecoming of a great club’, but Albertz took to Instagram to vent his fury at the newspaper for taking his words out of context and vowed ‘immediate action’ against them.
“The Daily Record/Sunday Mail today published my column which I or my team had NOT seen or approved,” he said. “It isn’t an accurate reflection of the conversation I had with the journalist.
“This is extremely disappointing and is a clear breach of trust. I will be taking immediate action.
“I am very proud to be part of Rangers Football Club and enjoy all interactions I have with the club. The Rangers weekend of Legends was a fantastic occasion and celebration of Rangers 150th anniversary.”
Cleared that up
Albertz was very quick to make his side of the story clear, as his comments took a little bit of the shine off what was a great event to celebrate 150 years of Rangers.
What he actually said we’ll obviously never know, but he is adamant that the journalist has twisted his words in a way that make out he’s said something he didn’t mean.

However there isn’t anything wrong with that he initially said. The club’s stance with some ex-pros has been a bit sad to see and there seems to be a political game going on with the board.
As for the Daily Record, they should know better than to publish something attached to someone else’s name without checking prior that they have signed off on it.
It’s a messy situation that Albertz has moved quickly to dampen, but fans will forever love him and thankfully this should blow away in the wind sooner rather than later.
