Filip Helander admits he doesn’t know about long-term Rangers future
Rangers defender Filip Helander has admitted he’s unsure of his long-term future at the club as he prepares to enter the final 12 months of his contract.
The 28-year-old joined the club in 2019 and has largely found himself on the fringes of the first-team, making 59 appearances for the Ibrox club since.
A serious knee injury kept him sidelined for five months earlier in the season which saw him left off the squad list for the Europa League, Helander told Fotbollskanalen that there have been no talks over a new deal yet.

“No, we have not talked so far,” he said.
“But there is more than a year left. We’ll see what happens.”
Captain Connor Goldson looks set to leave the club at the end of his contract this year, while John Souttar has already agreed to join the club this summer.
Squad option
The Rangers squad currently is hanging in the balance, because a lot of key players are coming to the end of their contract while a lot of the squad are at the wrong end of their career too.
That means plenty of decisions need to be made this summer about who will get a new deal, who will be moved on and who they can wait a little while on before making a decision.

Helander is likely to fall into that latter category, with his performances when called upon still very good but his overall quality as a regular starter still uncertain.
With defensive improvements expected as Goldson’s future seems uncertain while Leon Balogun also enters the end of his deal at 33-years-old and Calvin Bassey seemingly preferred at left-back, there is a spot for Helander.
Now fit again, he must get his head down and work hard to prove he deserves his place and then it’s certain that the fans will respond with praise.
