Amad Diallo unlikely to return to Rangers next season – report
Amad Diallo is ‘highly unlikely’ to re-join Rangers on loan next season from Manchester United, according to Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston.
The Ivorian winger joined the club in January on loan for the rest of the season as a direct replacement for Ianis Hagi who was ruled out for the rest of the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury.
But after scoring just four minutes into his debut, the 19-year-old has struggled to cement his place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side and it’s now believed he won’t return next season.
The deal was initially only until the end of the season anyway, but with news that Hagi will miss the start of the season there was some suggestion he could stay at Ibrox.
According to the MEN though, while a final decision won’t be made until Manchester United have appointed a new manager for next season it is seen as ‘highly unlikely’ that he’ll be coming back.
Talent
There’s no disputing that Amad has got plenty of talent and is good enough to succeed in Scotland, but with the way things are right now at Rangers it was just wrong place wrong time.
Amad has shown his quality, with his goal on his debut and some good performances that displayed his excellent dribbling and link-up play in attack.

However a lack of intensity has often seen him caught cold, and none moreso than during the Old Firm derby which saw him get substituted at half-time and he’s barely seen the pitch since.
Hagi is unlikely to be ready for the start of the new campaign but the summer window will provide plenty of opportunity for Rangers to strengthen their squad and plan for that scenario.
Amad will return to Old Trafford and undoubtedly have a great career elsewhere, but it’ll always be a case of what-if for his time at Ibrox unless he does something memorable between now and the end of the campaign.
