Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos misses Colombia game with injury
Rangers have been left to sweat on the fitness of star striker Alfredo Morelos after Colombia announced he will miss their game with Bolivia due to ‘muscle overload’.
The 25-year-old has been in magnificent form for the Ibrox side this season and is their top scorer in all competitions with 18 goals.
That form saw him called up to the national team as part of their World Cup qualifying pool, but it was announced on Thursday that he will be unavailable for the first game through injury.
Journalist Pipe Sierra tweeted out the news that was later confirmed by head coach Reinaldo Rueda, who announced his squad without the man nicknamed ‘El Buffalo’.
Rangers will now be sweating on the severity of the injury with a huge April fixture list coming up once he returns to Glasgow.
Don’t be serious
Rangers will be praying that Morelos being left out of the squad is simply a precaution and nothing serious considering their upcoming fixtures next month.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side will face Celtic in the league and Scottish Cup semi-finals, as well as facing Braga in a two-legged Europa League quarter-final all within a 14 day period.

The last international break came in in February where Morelos left the squad and missed the Old Firm derby, where his intensity and energy was sorely missed as Celtic battered Rangers 3-0.
They will be looking to avoid a repeat of that, especially as a win in the league game will put them level on points at the top of the table heading towards the split.
If he is hurt, it’s a huge blow to their chances in all competitions because they’re a totally different team without him. So fingers crossed it’s nothing.
