Alex Lowry needs more games at Rangers after star international display
Rangers might not have a game themselves this weekend but some of their players will be strutting their stuff on the international stage.
One player who has already made Giovanni van Bronckhorst sit up and take note in this international break is teenage sensation, Alex Lowry.
The 18-year-old scored both goals in Scotland Under-19s 2-1 victory against Turkey in the Euros Elite competition in a truly mesmerising display.

He wasn’t the only Rangers youngster to shine today though as the Scotsman mentions. Under-17s attacker Rory Wilson also bagged his own brace for Scotland in their 2-2 draw against the Czech Republic.
Wilson though is still some way from making his debut in the Light Blues’ first team but he is doing all the right things to make that dream a reality.
Lowry though is on the fringes of van Bronckhorst’s team and he is making all the right noises to twist the Dutchman’s arm into giving him a start in a big game.
Scottish Cup starts are all well and good but he needs to test himself against the best the country has to offer if he is going to progress further and reach his true ceiling.
International games such as this do at least get him playing against different types of midfielders who will all give him a battle he might have never experienced before.

That is something that is often overlooked in a player’s development as playing the same players each and every week can only develop a player so far.
Away games in unfamiliar countries against unfamiliar talent is exactly the kind of exposure Lowry needs right now and he is proving that he can step up and perform wherever in the world he is.
van Bronckhorst has to take notice of the 18-year-old’s epic performance against Turkey and surely he will soon be featuring each and every week in the Rangers blue.
In other Rangers news, a former Light Blues manager has explained how he found out he’d been sacked at Ibrox on the BBC.
