John Hartson hits back at Rangers ticket allocation for Celtic away fans

John Hartson has expressed his anger at Celtic fans getting an away allocation of 700 tickets for the upcoming Rangers clash.

Whilst there have been no away fans at the two Old Firm matches so far this season, it was seen by some supporters as a step in the right direction to sort out this dispute.

However, this is still only a fraction of the traditional 7,000 away fans Celtic would usually bring to Ibrox.

Ex-Celtic player, Hartson, clearly feels aggrieved about the ticket situation and blames Rangers for the fiasco in a rant on his personal Twitter account.

“I would say stuff the 700 tickets,” he said. “It should be 10,000 fans plus or nothing.

“If you’re one of the 700, I would think of the other Celtic fans who are missing out. We all know who started this lack of away fans nonsense.”

Tit for Tat

The ticket allocation debate has been ongoing for a few years since Rangers cut Celtic’s allocation because of an increase in season ticket sales in 2018.

Since then there has always been talk it could go back to normal, however as yet, nothing has materialised, with both clubs blaming each other for the ticket row.

If Celtic were to offer Rangers 9,000 fans back at Parkhead, Rangers would follow suit and give them their 7,000 allocation back at Ibrox and vice – versa.

The last few years have just proven that neither club wants to make the first move.

Therefore, it is the responsibility of both clubs to stop being stubborn and get the old firm derby atmosphere back to what it should be.
