Kemar Roofe reacts to Rangers protest after win vs Dundee

Rangers striker Kemar Roofe reacted with humour to the fan protests that interrupted their 2-1 win over Dundee on Sunday afternoon in his latest Instagram post.

Roofe came on as a substitute with the Bears 1-0 down and helped to turn the game around as Aaron Ramsey and Conor Goldson earned all three points to keep them in the title race.

But the game was interrupted three times by fan protests against the planned ‘Old Firm friendly’ in November, as they threw toilet rolls and tennis balls onto the pitch to force a pause in play.

But after collecting maximum points, Roofe took to social media to address the win and also gave a mention to the protests in the caption of his post.

“Going into the international break with 3 points, a tennis [ball emoji] and a toilet roll,” before ending it with a laughing emoji and a blue heart.

No laughing matter

While the actual protest may have been quite funny to watch and be a part of as Roofe was, especially with three points in the bank, it’s not a funny matter.

The fans are making it very clear that they have no interest in the planned friendly game despite the financial benefits to it, because the morals are more important.

Rangers

The rivalry between Rangers and Celtic isn’t a sporting rivalry, it’s much bigger than that and therefore any money that comes from it is just extra.

It seems as though the club are finally paying attention with reports that they’re looking for a way to pull out of the mini-tournament in Australia, which will go some way to make amends with fans.

But the fan protests have clearly got everyone’s attentions, including the players, so they’re doing their job perfectly. Keep going until the club follow through and pull out.
