Jim White shares Rangers update on Old Firm friendly
Jim White has told talkSPORT that organisers of the planned friendly between Rangers and Celtic in November are considering cancelling the game after fan protests.
Rangers and Celtic are currently scheduled to go head-to-head in the first Old Firm derby on foreign soil this winter in a mega-money friendly in Australia.
Fans of both clubs have been against the idea and voiced their concerns, with Rangers fans staging a protest during Sunday’s win over Dundee which caused action to be halted three times.

Now White says [March 21, 12:39pm] that he’s been told the organisers are considering pulling the plug on the deal because of the fan backlash.
“The intelligence I’m getting on this one is that now the organisers are thinking [it’s too much like hard work], yeah,” he said.
“There could well be a reason of timing, there might be some other reason but they might throw it into the mix that it seems as if it may not be taking place.”
Finally
It seems as though common sense has finally found a place among everyone involved in the situation and the game will be called off.
Rangers have already started looking into ways to get out of it because of the noise the fans made, essentially admitting they got it wrong by agreeing to it in the first place.

This is a game that goes far deeper than just a football rivalry and taking it on tour for some extra cash goes against all the traditions of the clubs and their fans, while feeding into the money men in the game right now.
Allowing the game to go ahead despite clear evidence that there is a big dislike for it would just be amateur and would set a dangerous precedent for the future, so it’s the right decision.
While many won’t like it, because it’s a great spectacle and fans have essentially got what they wanted despite throwing their dummy out of the pram, it’s the right decision for all and it’s about time they came to this conclusion.
