Rangers looking to back out from playing Sydney Super Cup clash against Celtic

Rangers are reportedly set to make a major u-turn and pull out from their friendly tournament clash against Celtic in Australia.

According to reliable Gers source The 4th Official, who has constantly broken big stories in and around the Ibrox, the defending SPFL champions are now looking for a way out.

They confirmed their participation in the tournament a few days ago, but given the backlash faced, they’re looking to withdraw from it.

Via his personal Twitter handle, the 4th Official wrote, “Rangers are looking to back out from the controversial plan to play an Old Firm in Australia in November as they are looking at legal options.

“Also unhappiness at the organisers of the Sydney Super Cup at how this played out.

“The very likely scenario is that Rangers are going to pull out of this tournament and soon.”

Great news

We were expecting something similar to come out of this entire development.

From the outset, not just the fans, but the club hierarchy also did not seem too on board with this entire tour Down Under.

Rangers

The fact that it’s the home country of Celtic’s manager, made it all the more reason for them to protest against it, altogether.

Hopefully, an official announcement is made soon as we would love to see the reaction from Celtic fans and ex players.

They cannot resist the urge to have a go at Rangers and it will be fun to witness the meltdown.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
