BBC pundits slam Rangers defenders during Dundee clash

BBC duo Mark Hateley and Jim Duffy have slammed the Rangers defenders for allowing Dundee an easy chance to score in the first half.

Jordan Marshall was not closed down on the left flank and his cross perfectly found Christie Elliott who headed the ball home for the opener.

None of the Gers players marked the wing-back – which led to the dismay of the two BBC pundits.

On the BBC blog, Hateley said, “Nobody is attacking the ball, two, three defenders just watching the ball in the wider areas. Christie Elliott just ghosts in with the simplest of tap-ins.”

Duffy then chimed in, “Rangers have got to stop the cross, but it’s a terrific goal from a Dundee point of view and it gives them something to hold on to. It’s really sloppy from Rangers.”

Wake up

Gers have started this game awfully and deserve to be down.

They’ve not managed to string a series of passes that eventually leads to a proper attack.

Everything thus far has been completely haphazard and not something Giovanni van Bronckhorst would have wanted.

Surely, he will demand something else from his players in the second half.

These are not the kinds of games they can afford to drop points in and the title is Celtic’s to lose if Rangers cannot find a way to win this one.

Hopefully, something drastically changes in the second period.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
