Rangers may have way out of Sydney Super Cup thanks to ‘legal loophole’

Rangers could yet be able to pull out of November’s Sydney Super Cup without having to pay a hefty fine thanks to a “legal loophole”, according to the Daily Record.

The Light Blues are scheduled to play two games in Australia while the Qatar World Cup is taking place with one of those games being against Old Firm rivals Celtic at the new Accor Stadium.

Supporters of both clubs have been up in arms about the deal however and Rangers are supposedly looking for a way out of the tournament.

Daily Record report that the Ibrox club may have found a “legal loophole which can be exploited to allow them to withdraw without being hit in the pocket.”

Their sources in Australia said that the Gers could expect a seven-figure penalty if they pull out of the tournament, throwing their plans into disarray.

Leave them in it

From the moment these plans were announced, very few, if any, supporters were delighted or keen to see them come to fruition and it seems like the big brass at Ibrox are finally listening.

No one wanted this friendly tournament except those whose pockets would have been lined because of it and the footballing aspect of it was completely ignored.

It’s great that they are now listening but they have to execute the withdrawal right to avoid this big penalty they’ve been threatened with.

If they can’t escape the seven-figure sum, they had might as well just do it anyway knowing that there is no Rangers heart that is fully behind the idea.

This does prove though that if fans shout loud enough, they can get whatever they like and this can be the platform towards building something great.

In other Rangers news, Serbian newspapers have been reacting to the Light Blues’ aggregate victory over Red Star Belgrade.
