Chris Sutton reacts instantly as Rangers Europa League quarter-final draw is confirmed

Chris Sutton has tried ramping the pressure up on Rangers after they drew Braga in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

After knocking out Red Star Belgrade last night [17 March], the Gers went into the hat as one of the last eight.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side managed to avoid Barcelona, West Ham and RB Leipzig to draw arguably the weakest side that was left.

We’ve come a long way since 2012, haven’t we?

In less than 10 years, the club has battled administration, been relegated to the fourth-tier, returned to the Scottish Premiership, won title number 55 and are now in the Europa League quarter-finals.

Scottish football owes Rangers because without the Ibrox giants, the league would not have anywhere near the standing in European football it does right now.

Celtic’s performances in Europe have been an embarrassment for a long time now while Scotland’s other European qualifiers have been woeful too. Aberdeen and Hibernian, we’re looking at you.

Rangers are clearly the big boys in Scotland and without us, the rest suffer massively.

Braga are beatable – we’ve done it recently when Steven Gerrard was in charge.

Win that, and it’s a clash with either Leipzig or Atalanta in the semi-final.

That’ll be extremely tough as they’re both very good, attack-minded teams.

But first, let’s get past Braga.

And we think we will do exactly that.
