Braga share instant reaction to Rangers Europa League quarter-final draw
Braga are excited to come up against an old foe in Rangers, and have the performance of one Ianis Hagi from their last meeting fresh in the memory judging by their Twitter account.
The Portuguese club were drawn against Rangers in the Europa League quarter-finals, with the second leg taking place at Ibrox next month.
These two sides met in the competition back in 2020, where Romania international Ianis Hagi turned in a wonderful performance to give the light blues the victory on the night as they came from 2-0 down.
Now after being drawn together again, the Braga Twitter admin clearly hasn’t forgotten about it after replying to the official Europa League account who posted a clip of their opening goal from that game.
The official Braga account simply replied to the footage with a short message that will get Rangers fans fondly remembering the game as they praised Hagi’s influence.
“And then Hagi came…[roll eyes emoji]”, they posted.
Missing
Unfortunately for Rangers, there will be no Hagi to dig them out of a hole this season if they find themselves in trouble in this tie.
The winger is currently recovering from a torn cruciate ligament injury picked up in February against Annan Athletic, and is expected to miss the start of next season.
These days, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is the man in charge and he has seemingly found a winning formula in Europe with the likes of Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Jack all flying.
With the second leg set to take place in Glasgow, it gives the team a huge edge as they look to push through to a glorious semi-final which will come against the winner of Atalanta v RB Leipzig should they be successful.
Even though Hagi won’t be there, Rangers have a psychological edge over their opponents going into the game and at this stage every little helps.
