Stephen Craigan stunned by Allan McGregor save in Rangers showdown v Red Star

Stephen Craigan was left stunned by Rangers stopper Allan McGregor in the first half against Red Star this evening.

The Serbian side scored early in the clash and nearly doubled their lead minutes later before the veteran stopper tipped it wide.

Craigan was blown away live on air but was worried by how easy it was for Red Star to cut through the heart of the Bears.

Speaking live on BT Sports in the opening half of the clash, Craigan couldn’t believe the reflexes on show by the veteran.

“That’s an incredible save,” he said.

“That was certainly an important one, but it’s the ease at which Red Star cut through Rangers which will be a major concern.”

Wow.

If there was one way to answer all of your critics in recent months, McGregor has done just that with his performances.

The veteran stopper pulled off an unbelievable penalty save in the first leg at Ibrox, and he continued his antics in the reverse fixture tonight.

This was all about reflexes and being able to tip it wide, low to his left, and that can be easier said than done with defenders ahead of you.

Craigan was right to be blown away, and McGregor is only proving that age means nothing with each passing week.

If some wanted him to hang up the gloves earlier in the season, they may be having second thoughts right about now after recent performances.

Long may this continue, although we would prefer he wasn’t as busy.
