Barry Ferguson says Rangers should focus on SPFL ahead of Europa League clash
Barry Ferguson has suggested that Rangers should primarily focus on winning the Scottish Premier League.
The Gers are one step away from reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League, while they are still very much in the race to win the league this season.
While Ferguson would love to see his former club lift both the trophies, he feels the league should come first.

Ferguson told Go Radio’s Football Show: “I’m saying I would rather win the league. I am the league, 100%.
“It would be great to win the Europa League but you have got to win the league title.”
Spot on
While winning the Europa League will not only bring them prestige, it will earn them loads of prize money which they can use in buying players in the summer.
On top of that, the prize money for qualifying in the Champions League are also big. Every big club wants to play in Europe’s Premier competition and Rangers must believe they belong to that level.
The Gers have made massive progress in the past two years, and Van Bronckhorst has made the team even better after taking the baton from Steven Gerrard.

At the same time, the Scottish Premier League is the lifeblood of the country, and victory over Celtic means a lot to the fan.
Even if Rangers win the Europa League, there will be supporters who won’t be happy if the title goes to Celtic, their bitter rivals.
Rangers are only three points behind Celtic in the league, and there are plenty of games left to overtake them.
The focus meanwhile shifts to Europa League, where the Bears will face Red Star Belgrade in the second leg at the Marakana.
In other Rangers news, fans in Australia will get Old Firm derby tickets 58% cheaper than those in Glasgow.
