Ally McCoist drools over Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack

Ally McCoist has suggested that Rangers midfielder Ryan Jack should be in the Scotland national squad.

Jack has struggled with fitness this season, but he is still a ‘key’ player for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.

McCoist has suggested that Jack has been “enormous” for his club, adding that he is “pivotal” for Scotland.

“If Ryan Jack is fit, he goes straight back into that Scotland team, in my opinion. He’s pivotal,” said McCoist, as quoted by the Daily Record.

“The difference Jack has made since he came back into the Rangers team is enormous. Even in Rangers’ poorest display in years at Celtic Park earlier in the season, the only bright light was Ryan coming on at half time.

“He is key and, without getting carried away, I’m really hopeful now that we’ve got a generation of Scottish talent that can compete at the top level and get us to more European Championships and World Cups.”

Back in the side?

The 30-year-old midfielder is performing at a top level for his club again.

He lost almost a year due to injury and missed the Euros after becoming a vital player in Steve Clarke’s engine room during the qualification campaign.

After this week of club football, Scotland will be gripped with World-Cup play off fever.

Ukraine was supposed to play at Hampden Park but the match has been currently postponed until June due to the war going on after being invaded by Russia.

As a result, Scotland will now face Poland in a friendly at the national stadium.

After that match, they will face the loser of the Wales-Austria play-off. These are crucial games.

Scotland registered a superb victory over Denmark at Hampden in November, and they will be looking to maintain their impressive form.

With Jack returning back to his best form, it’s high time Clarke should reintegrate him into the Scotland team.
