Michael Stewart reacts to ‘huge’ Rangers v Celtic Scottish Cup draw on Monday evening

Michael Stewart has labelled the Scottish Cup semi-final draw between Rangers and Celtic as “huge” on Monday evening.

The Glasgow teams will meet head-on at Hampden Park for a spot in the final after sweeping aside both Dundee clubs.

Stewart admitted it was on a coins toss who would go through, but has backed Celtic early on to get the win.

Speaking live on Premier Sports after the draw on Monday evening, Stewart was not convincing at all in his prediction.

“It’s a huge semi-final draw to look forward too,” he said.

“As Chris mentioned there, it’s very, very difficult to predict those games. Rangers have reacted very well to that defeat against Celtic.

“Semi-final, I do think it’s toss of the coin stuff. If everyone is fit, at the moment, I think Celtic edge it.”

Huge.

This is going to be a huge weekend of football.

Likely to be near or on the Easter weekend, it could come after a huge Europa League quarter-final too for the Bears.

That would be massive and could be all the motivation that Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his squad need at this moment in time.

Celtic aren’t exactly firing on all cylinders, and with the latest Old Firm instalment in the Scottish Premiership coming up too, that is a chance to lay down a marker.

Blowing the title race wide open once again and then winning in that semi-final would be huge for the Light Blues, and that simply has to be the goal.

Stewart once again crumbled under the pressure of Chris Sutton alongside him, and it would be nice to shut those two up along the way.

Bring it on.
