Barry Ferguson backs ‘top quality’ Aaron Ramsey to improve for Rangers
Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has backed Aaron Ramsey to succeed after showing ‘glimpses’ of what he can do against Dundee.
Ramsey made just his second start for the club since joining on loan on deadline day in January, having suffered with injuries and a lack of match sharpness since arriving from Juventus.
But he got 79 minutes under his belt at the weekend in the 3-0 win over Dundee in the Scottish Cup quarter-final clash, and Ferguson told Go Radio that he believes it will do him the world of good.

“He showed glimpses,” he said. “We all know how good a player he is, I think he’s top quality.
“He lacks a bit of fitness but that’s natural when he hasn’t played a lot of football.
“You saw some of his touches and some decent passing. That 90 minutes will do him the world of good.”
Game changer
If Rangers can get the former Arsenal man fit and firing then they have got a real game-changer in their squad for the run-in across three competitions.
The Bears are still in the hunt for a second consecutive Scottish Premiership title, while they will meet Celtic in the Scottish Cup semi-finals and look set to progress into the Europa League quarter-finals barring an implosion.

They’ve managed all of that without Ramsey, who at one point was regarded as one of the best midfielders in Europe.
He’s past his prime now, but he still has top level experience and quality and more than enough about him to be able to affect games in a positive way for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.
Whether it be as a starter or a substitute, Ramsey’s availability could be the difference between winning the treble or just having a competitive season.
