Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara reacts to Ondrej Kudela dropping racism appeal

Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara feels vindicated after Ondrej Kudela dropped his appeal for a 10-match ban by UEFA.

As reported by Football Scotland, the Czech player put the matter to bed by withdrawing his appeal of the incident in which he called Kamara a “[swear] monkey” in the Europa League last season.

His ban was suspended as a result of his appeal but he will now be facing it because he withdrew his appeal.

Via his personal Twitter account, Kamara wrote, “I feel vindicated as Kudela drops his appeal against 10 match ban by @UEFA for racially abusing me 1 year ago.

“I’m grateful to @RangersFC, our fans & the many other fans/clubs who supported me- but I also want to thank my lawyer @AamerAnwar who fought my corner unconditionally.”

Fantastic

We’re glad that Kamara got the vindication he so thoroughly deserved the moment it happened.

It was heartening to see the club and everyone associated with Rangers standing with Kamara through a very tough period.

UEFA did their part initially but were not as harsh as they should’ve been on Kudela.

They allowed him to avoid facing the ban for almost a year but it’s good that he finally withdrew it.

Racism is an evil not just in football but in society at large and steps must be taken to eradicate it.

It’s good to see Kamara making his thoughts clear and everyone can now put this matter to rest.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
