Gavin Rae drools over Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Gavin Rae has suggested that Rangers midfielder Aaron Ramsey will be a game-changer for the Gers this season.

The Wales midfielder, who made a switch to Ibrox on loan from Juventus in the January transfer window, has struggled with fitness so far.

There’s no doubt that he is a world-class midfielder, but it remains to be seen what impact he leaves on the team.

Rae said to Scottish Express Daily: “When I saw Rangers had signed him – I thought ‘that’s a huge signing’.

“He’s got so much talent and if he can stay fit he can have a huge influence for Rangers. He can be the difference between them winning the title or not.

“He can create goals, he can score goals – we’ve all seen the job he does for Wales and he’s a real leader too. Aaron will be a game-changer for Rangers, 100 per cent.”

Hope

Ramsey is a top player and he can make a big difference to the side.

The only problem is whether he can stay fit for the rest of the season and make a significant contribution.

The Bears are one step away from reaching the quarter-finals stages of the Europa League, and Ramsey can make his mark on big European nights.

Likewise, a tense Scottish Premiership title race is going on, where Rangers are trailing Celtic by three points.

There are two Old Firm games left to be played and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will hope that the former Arsenal midfielder makes himself available and dictates the midfield in those games.

Ramsey started in the 3-0 win against Dundee in the Scottish Cup on Sunday and did reasonably well. It was more about him getting back to full sharpness.

Rangers do have a strong squad that can focus both on the league and in Europe, and if Ramsey can hit some kind of form, the Gers will hit an extra gear.
