BBC pundit Alan Hutton cannot believe what James Tavernier did in Rangers win v Dundee
Alan Hutton was left stunned by James Tavernier as Rangers smashed past Dundee in their 3-0 win on Sunday (13 March).
The skipper smashed home yet another penalty after being fouled himself, with the decision heavily questioned.
Hutton labelled Tavernier’s record as “phenomenal” and that no keeper would have stopped his penalty yet again.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene last night (13 March), Hutton preferred to concentrate on the good, rather than the controversial.
“It’s actually phenomenal,” he said.
“His numbers and he’s just been getting better season after season. It’s one of those ones where he does get the ball out of his feet, he manipulates it well, and Sweeney does block it off, it’s a bit soft.
“That’s an emphatic finish, no keeper is going to save that – he just keeps getting better.”

Incredible.
Don’t blink or rub your eyes, those really are the numbers of a right-back.
Tavernier has scored 77 goals and delivered 105 assists in his 332 games for the Bears, those numbers will never be replicated.
It is simply unthinkable that a right-back can deliver those numbers, and even if most of them are penalties, he still has to stick them away nearly every single week with the pressure rising.
Hutton got nowhere near that, and although the game changes with each year, he still has every right to be stunned.
Tavernier is only going to keep increasing those numbers the longer he stays at the club, which is likely until retirement.
The skipper will likely want to hit 100 goals before that moment though, and the way he is going, it won’t be long until he does just that.
