Alan Hutton stunned by Rangers first goal v Dundee live on BBC Sportscene

Alan Hutton was left stunned by the entirety of the first Rangers goal in their Scottish Cup win over Dundee on Sunday (13 March).

Reacting to footage on the BBC, the former Bear was wowed by everything from the defensive work beforehand, to the finish from Connor Goldson.

It was Goldson who reacted quickest to smash home after Filip Helander’s initial header was somehow cleared off the lines at Dens Park.

Speaking live on BBC Sportscene last night (13 March), Hutton was stunned by the goal from the clearance to the finish.

“It was unbelievable,” he said.

“I’m surprised he didn’t snap something trying to get on the end of that, it’s just unfortunate that it comes off the bar and falls to Goldson.

“Great composure to finish it off.”

Unbelievable.

Without goalline technology, we will never know if it did cross the line initially, but it did look very close.

Thankfully, Goldson was there to smash home and the rest took care of itself at Dens Park afterwards.

The Bears have struggled with the game after their Europa League outings this season, that is very clear, and we have already thrown away one cup competition at Hampden.

It is time that we make sure that it doesn’t happen again.

Having said that, the draw is looking like one for the ages, and if Celtic win tonight, there is a potential for two huge derbies before the final.

Winning scrappy games such as this one is proof that this can be different, and it is time to put this cup hoodoo to bed once and for all this season.
