Ally McCoist admits ‘enormous pride’ view if Rangers win Europa League
Ally McCoist has admitted he would be filled with “enormous pride” if Rangers were to go all the way and win the Europa League.
The Gers took one step towards the quarter final draw last night (March 10) with an emphatic 3-0 win over Red Star Belgrade at Ibrox.
McCoist claimed it is anyone’s tournament despite the host of “great” teams that still remain in the competition.

“But for Rangers to win it, it fills me with enormous pride,” he said as per Daily Record.
“Look at the last 10-15 years, the journey, the unfortunate times the club has been through.
“I’m just so pleased for the club and the fans that we’re now back competing at a good level in Europe. Those nights like last night make it all worthwhile. It was special.”
When asked if Rangers could go all the way, he replied: McCoist replied: “You’re asking a man who gets carried away very easily.
“It’s going to be tough. Look at the teams who are left, dear me. Barcelona, West Ham and Sevilla, there’s some great teams left in it.
“But I’m going to be brutally honest. If you asked me three or four weeks ago would we comfortably knock out Borussia Dortmund and be 3-0 up in the first round of the last 16, I would have laughed probably.
“I don’t think the tie is over by any stretch of the imagination, but what an opportunity we’ve got to get into the last eight.
“After that, you never know, it’s anybody’s tournament.”

History makers?
Can you imagine the scenes if the Gers went all the way and won the Europa League?
Much like McCoist, no Rangers fans thought they would make it past Borussia Dortmund and now they find themselves almost guaranteed to be in the draw for the quarter-finals.
This team continues to exceed expectations in Europe, and they are certainly saving their best performances for the competition considering the huge drop in performance levels domestically.
Rangers have struggled in the league as of late and find themselves three points behind leaders Celtic. If they can transfer some of their European flair into their league games, there is no doubt they can usurp their rivals.
However, having won the league last season, some fans might fancy winning the Europa League.
There are some excellent teams left in the competition but given who Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s team have already beaten, they will fear no one. Every team is there for the taking against this Light Blues team who seem unstoppable over two legs.
With that being said, the need to finish the job in Serbia next week before getting too carried away.
