Martin Keown stunned as Jim White brings up Rangers v Red Star live on talkSPORT

Martin Keown was left breathless on talkSPORT this morning after Rangers beat Red Star Belgrade 3-0 on Thursday.

Jim White brought up the crushing win at Ibrox and the atmosphere was out of this world during and after the huge victory.

Keown singled out Allan McGregor for his big save from the penalty spot and keeping a clean sheet ahead of the trip to Serbia.

Speaking live on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan this morning (11 March), the host kickstarted the segment on the Bears.

“Rangers, very much in the driving seat,” he said.

Keown was lost for words and couldn’t believe how much happened in the space of 90 minutes in the first leg.

“What an extraordinary game that was,” he replied.

“Three goals disallowed there for Red Star Belgrade, missed a penalty, the finishing and the goalkeeper making that save – Allan McGregor, 40 years of age, gets down and makes an incredible save. The atmosphere at Ibrox was truly amazing.”

Extraordinary.

We still haven’t gotten over the antics of McGregor last night.

How did he even get down to that penalty? Let alone tip it around the post, as it was smashed with some venom.

The Serbians will have been left wondering how on earth do they beat him, and when they did, it was offside calls with some after cracking saves.

This is the McGregor we have all missed at Ibrox, and his critics were silenced perfectly on what is the biggest stage of them all.

Keown and White were stunned, and they weren’t the only ones having walked out of Ibrox last night.

The job isn’t done though, and it is time to make more European memories this season by steaming into the quarter-finals, and who knows? Maybe even further.
