Jim White stunned as Rangers smash Red Star Belgrade in Europa League showdown

Jim White was left thrilled on Thursday evening as Rangers smashed past Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League.

The Bears won 3-0 at Ibrox, and will take that healthy lead to Serbia next week for the second-leg with a spot in the quarter-final up for grabs.

It was a match that had everything in Glasgow, with numerous disallowed goals, a couple of penalties – even they had different results.

Writing on his personal Twitter account with his instant reaction, White was clearly thrilled with what he saw.

“Big result for Rangers, 3-0,” he said.

Wow.

These European nights are now a trademark at Ibrox, and clubs should fear coming here no matter their standing or reputation.

Red Star gave a very good fight and it could have been different on another night, but this one certainly belonged to the Bears.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst appears to have taken Steven Gerrard’s work on the big stage to the next level, and these players are relishing that.

You have to think that the likes of Connor Goldson will be taking a second thought about their futures with contracts soon coming to an end.

There can be no complacency settling in, though, with the Serbian side having one of the most intimidating grounds in the world.

That has to be used as motivation, and hopefully another big result next week can book our places in the quarter-finals of the Europa League yet again.

It’s time to go and get the job done – bring it on.
