Nebojsa Markovic tells BBC that Red Star are out for revenge v Rangers in Europa League showdown
Serbian journalist Nebojsa Markovic has told the BBC that Red Star are out for “Revenge” this evening against Rangers.
The Bears welcome the Serbian outfit to Glasgow for the first leg of their Round of 16 tie in the Europa League, 15 years after their last meeting.
Rangers beat Red Star 1-0 across two legs in Champions League qualifying, something Markovic has shared that fans believed their side could have won.

Speaking to the BBC ahead of the game, Markovic shared the feeling from Serbia before the showdown at Ibrox.
“The fans still remember the matches from 2007 and they feel that they were close to Rangers in those matches when Rangers got through,” he said.
“So, it is something that they want to get a kind of revenge for that. Those matches are very well remembered among the fans.
“It’s going to be very interesting how these two matches go.”
Revenge.
This is the perfect motivation for the Bears.
We will be welcoming a Red Star side who are hell-bent on making it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League, and that will only match our ambition and bring the best out of everyone.
Borussia Dortmund were seen as the heavy favourites in the previous round, but now this is more of a level playing field.
Many even see Rangers as the overwhelming favourites to get through, but that must not change the ambition or goal of getting through.
The atmosphere is going to be out of this world once again, and it is going to be down to us in the crowd to push the lads on to a healthy first-leg lead if possible.
Bring it on.
