Predicted Rangers starting XI v Red Star Belgrade in Europa League showdown

Rangers return to European action on Thursday evening as they welcome Red Star Belgrade to Ibrox.

The Serbian and Scottish champions will go head-to-head in the first leg of their Europa League round of 16 ties.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men will still be on a huge high after tearing Borussia Dortmund apart in the previous stage.

Rangers

Allan McGregor will start in goal, with the veteran having kept consecutive clean-sheets for what feels like the first time in forever.

James Tavernier and Calvin Bassey will be at full-backs, with the Borna Barisic experiment ending in the Croatian being dropped.

Connor Goldson will welcome Leon Balogun alongside him, with the Nigerian international ready and available.

Ryan Jack will also keep his spot in the holding midfield role, with his influence key in the heart of this side.

John Lundstram will come back into the side too, his defensive work has been second-to-none recently, but he also offers that threat going forward.

Completing the midfield will be Joe Aribo, and we’re hoping that the European spotlight can finally drag the best out of him yet again.

Scott Arfield will play on the right, with the Canadian bringing out the best of those around him on these Thursday night showdowns, especially when pressing off the ball.

To the point of the team that becomes no surprise now, with Ryan Kent on the opposite flank, with the winger playing some of his best stuff over the past couple of months.

Despite Kemar Roofe coming on against Aberdeen to grab the winner, it will be Alfredo Morelos once again leading the line against Red Star.

Here’s how we expect the Bears to line up…

Three internationals have been predicted to be dropped with Fashion Sakala, Glen Kamara and Barisic taking their spots on the bench.
