Mark Hateley baffled by Giovanni van Bronckhorst Rangers decisions
Mark Hateley has highlighted a “trust issue” between Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his Rangers players after recent developments.
The Dutchman has come under scrutiny for failing to utilise his Gers bench amid disappointing results and performances.
Hateley hailed Kemar Roofe for his game changing contribution against Aberdeen but shared his bewilderment with the Bears boss.

He said as per Daily Record: “You saw that at the weekend when Roofe came on and did what he does. He gets his goal, showed good movement, was very intelligent. We have got all that in reserve.”
Hateley added “I don’t know what is going on up at the training ground and whether he is carrying an injury.
“Just like I don’t know what is happening with Steven Davis. I really can’t comment on that.
“Picking up on the St Johnstone game, he didn’t make any subs. That sends a message to me that he might have a trust issue with a lot of the players who are in and around the starting XI.”
Switch it up
It is a very difficult one to call. You would like to think van Bronckhorst knows something the Rangers fans don’t as he spends every single day with these players, watching them train.

The impact Roofe made on the weekend suggests otherwise though. He came on and won the game for the Gers despite not being good enough to start and the boss must take notice of that.
This squad has an abundance of talented players, ones that can come on and change games but van Bronckhorst is reluctant to use them.
Many of the Bears’ players on the fringe of the starting XI would slot straight into the starting line-up of most clubs which must be remembered.
Just because they may not be regarded as highly as the starters by the manager, doesn’t mean they can’t make an impact.
Fresh legs that are ready to come on and work hard to prove they deserve a chance are much better than tired ones that are going to try the same thing.
As seen with Roofe’s winner, he gave the defenders something completely different to think about and they couldn’t deal with it.
