Vicente Besuijen should have seen red for Aberdeen v Rangers – Keith Hackett
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive Rangers columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox…
Keith Hackett has insisted that Aberdeen attacker Vicente Besuijen should have seen red against Rangers on Saturday.
The ex-FIFA official admitted that the winger was lucky to get away with a high lunge on Scott Arfield at Ibrox.
Hackett ensured that should VAR have been in operation, there could have been two red cards, with Arfield also treading a fine line.

“He’s gone in with his feet high,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“He’s lucky to get away with it. VAR would have come in, for sure.”

VAR needed.
Officiating is becoming more of a joke every single week in Scotland.
Rangers appear to have been suffering more than most, too, with clear red cards missed against Motherwell and Dundee United, as well as this one.
How can they keep being missed? Especially, when they are all so clear.
This is why the Bears are among clubs who want the technology brought in, but certain sides don’t want to cough up the cash for that privilege.
Arfield could easily have broken his leg from this wild lunge, and the officials were so carefree in making their minds up.
The BBC Sportscene studio was also in agreement that this should have seen red, and that tells a story in itself.
We need more consistency, and the only way that may ever happen is by coughing up the money to pay for VAR – make it happen.
