Rangers B set to make Ibrox history against Celtic B

Rangers and Celtic will have their B teams face each other at the Ibrox on March 19, according to the Daily Record.

The report claims that this will be the first time that the Gers B team will feature at the home ground of the senior team.

This contest was initially scheduled for December 31, but as fans would not be allowed, it was postponed by three months.

A statement announced: “Rangers can confirm the Old Firm B Team Lowland League fixture, initially scheduled for 31 December last year at Ibrox, has been rescheduled for Saturday, 19 March with a 1 pm kick-off.

“Tickets and hospitality packages purchased for the initial match date remain valid – with a further sale of tickets now open to all Rangers supporters.”

Fantastic news

A number of players in the B team would be dreaming of playing at the Ibrox once they break into the senior side.

However, for that opportunity to present itself this early in their careers will be special and one they will cherish forever.

It will also give the thousands of fans in attendance to see what’s in store with the reserves.

They will have their picks on which players they would fancy making Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s first team.

It’s a 1 pm kick-off on a Saturday which would be a fantastic occasion to go with the family or a few friends to the Ibrox.

The game will be relaxed, unlike senior Old Firms and there will be some good football on display.

In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
