Red Star Belgrade striker Ohi Omoijuanfo sends warning to Rangers

Red Star Belgrade striker Ohi Omoijuanfo has suggested that his side won’t be playing for a draw against Rangers.

The two sides meet next week in the Round of 16 Europa League first-leg clash at Ibrox.

The Norwegian striker has promised he’ll be doing everything to score against the Gers and get close to Robert Lewandowski in the European Golden Shoe race.

Rangers

Omoijuanfo said, as quoted by The Daily Record: “While I can’t guarantee a goal at Ibrox against Rangers, I can promise I will be doing absolutely everything to try and get us to the quarter-finals.

“We aren’t going to go to Glasgow and play for the draw. We will approach the game as we do every match, we are going for the win.

“It will be a difficult match. Of course, we are expecting that. But if we play as well as we can then we can definitely win the game.”

Tough game

Rangers booked their place in the last 16 of the Europa League after beating Borussia Dortmund in the knock-out round, 6-4 on aggregate.

The victory would have given them huge confidence and they should be able to challenge any top European side.

The Bears need to make a strong start at Ibrox. It will be interesting to see how they approach the game.

It’s not easy to go to Serbia and demolish them, as they are capable of creating a hostile environment.

Rangers

If Rangers can take a healthy two-goal lead, they should feel confident of progressing through to the quarter-final stages.

Omoijuanfo has been in outstanding form this season, and he is currently second behind Lewandowski in the European Golden Shoe race.

He has netted an impressive 31 goals in 36 games for Red Star this season, and Rangers will have to make sure they keep him in check.
