Rangers did not seek SPFL permission to wear special kit v Aberdeen
Rangers did not seek prior permission from the SPFL or the SPA to wear a special edition kit against Aberdeen.
According to Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph, the two authorities have stated that the club did not approach them over such a decision.
The rules state that if the club has any plan to do such a thing, then they must seek prior permission.
Via his personal Twitter account, Joseph wrote, “SkySportsNews understands the SFA and SPFL did not receive any request from Rangers to wear their special edition kit for today’s match.
“If a club wishes to wear a different kit from those registered at the start of the season, they would have to seek permission.”
This comes after the club stated that they “felt it was fitting to wear our traditional blue home strip” to commemorate their 150th anniversary.
Bit silly
It’s silly to make an issue about such a trivial thing when the club have better things to focus on.
There was no confusion in the kit colours during the game and if there was, Aberdeen would’ve made a noise about it.

Such things should not even see the light of day, let alone lead to a controversy such as this.
Gers have a title race and the Europa League to focus on and really should not be wasting their time on this.
Hopefully, the SPFL do not decide to take further action and just tell the club that they will in case it happens next time.
In other Rangers news, the club may sign a Dutch international to replace Allan McGregor and the keeper’s contract also expires in the summer.
