BBC journalist Nick McPheat blown away by Sakala in Rangers v Aberdeen

Rangers attacker Fashion Sakala was praised by Nick McPheat for a bicycle kick in the first half against Aberdeen.

The hosts started the game slowly but began ramping up the pressure towards the latter stages of the half.

Sakala tried a speculative effort midway through the period, but unfortunately, it did not find its way into the back of the net.

On the BBC blog, McPheat wrote, “Rangers continue to struggle to create chances, but a fine turn and pass from Glen Kamara sends Ryan Kent down the left.

“The winger loops a long, high cross to the back post, but Fashion Sakala’s spectacular bicycle kick sends his volley high into the stand.”

Disappointing

Gers cannot afford to be dropping points against teams like Aberdeen, given how close the title race is.

They can dominate possession and have the majority of the chances, but at the end of the day, they need to find the back of the net.

Today, they have tried on a number of occasions, but have failed to deliver.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to get into the minds of some of these players as they have been extremely underwhelming.

Hopefully, the second half is different as a win here puts Gers level on points with Celtic and adds the pressure on them ahead of their game this Sunday.

If they drop points, the momentum swings back to the Ibrox and it could be just the boost they need in the business end of the season.
