View: Amad gets another chance, GvB makes two changes - Rangers predicted XI vs Aberdeen

Rangers could give a young talent a big chance from the start when they take on Aberdeen at Ibrox this weekend in the Scottish Premiership.

The Bears earned a 1-0 win over St Johnstone on Wednesday night thanks to a goal by Glen Kamara, to keep the gap between themselves and Celtic at just three points as we enter the run-in.

But with a Europa League last 16 clash coming in midweek and some not-so-great performances in the midweek win, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is expected to make some changes.

Goalkeeper Allan McGregor should retain his place after earning a clean sheet despite coming under increasing pressure about his recent form [Express].

In defence, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson are automatic picks for the manager and should retain their place but the left side of the defence is up for grabs.

Calvin Bassey started at left-back in the week but with Leon Balogun just returning from injury, Borna Barisic should come into the side at left-back which will allow Bassey to move to centre-back.

John Lundstram and Kamara were excellent in their midfield roles and should keep their place in the pivot, while Joe Aribo should get the opportunity to shake off what was a lacklustre performance against St Johnstone.

Scott Arfield was poor in the week and his position is likely under threat, but after impressing in the cup and behind-the-scenes friendlies Amad Diallo could get another chance from the start.

The Manchester United loanee started well with a goal four minutes into his debut, but he’s blown hot and cold since and has started just twice more since in all competitions.

Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos should be allowed to continue their fine relationship and form from the left wing and number nine position respectively also.

Predicted XI: McGregor; Tavernier, Goldson, Bassey, Barisic; Kamara, Lundstram; Amad, Aribo, Kent; Morelos
