Rangers could be set for £3million windfall from Australia trip – The Athletic

Rangers have more than angered fans after announcing plans to take on Celtic in Australia later this year.

The Athletic has reported that both clubs could be set for a healthy windfall from the small competition in Sydney.

It is shared that it could bank £3million for both clubs, although that didn’t stop fans from constantly chanting against it.

Writing in his latest piece for The Athletic, Jordan Campbell shared the news based on finances.

“Rangers had only confirmed their participation in the Sydney Super Cup on Wednesday morning, which could earn both Glasgow sides around £3 million, but even the importance of the trip to St Johnstone did not dissuade the travelling fans from voicing their discontent,” he wrote.

Money over morals.

Are the Rangers board that obsessed with the finances that they are making decisions such as this one?

It makes no sense, whatsoever.

The money has been rolling in from the Europa League this season, and it continued after smashing past Borussia Dortmund last month.

This Sydney Cup is being advertised as nothing more than a tribute to Ange Postecoglou and his Celtic team, and there has to be some red faces in the Ibrox boardroom watching that.

Listening to the fans is something that has happened over the years, but this is a huge oversight and they will be forced to listen to our discomfort for the months to come.

Money or not, there has to be a stage where Rangers comes first.
