Giovanni van Bronckhorst ‘doesn’t trust’ Rangers squad – Kris Boyd

Rangers kept pace with league leaders Celtic last night as they managed to scrape past St. Johnstone in a drab affair at McDiarmid Park last night.

Glen Kamara scored the game’s only goal after just three minutes to give Giovanni van Bronchorst’s side all three points in Perth and deny their Old Firm rivals from pulling away at the top as they beat St. Mirren 2-0.

Ex-Rangers striker Kris Boyd is unconvinced by the Light Blues boss right now, claiming he doesn’t trust the entirety of his squad given the lack of changes amid a poor run of performances.

“I don’t really think Giovanni van Bronckhorst trusts his squad,” Boyd said on Sky Sports Main Event (2 March), as quoted by Football Scotland.

“I think when you look at the European games, and the effort but during the games against Borussia Dortmund there wasn’t many changes as well.

“You kind of get the feeling that if you want that opportunity, it’s not really coming for the Rangers players.

“I think that the ones have got the jersey, if they keep performing, there is a reluctance to change it.

“I think the last few games have told us he doesn’t trust a squad a lot.”

A win is a win

It wasn’t pretty and it certainly won’t have helped the goal difference all that much but they got over the line and that is all that really matters.

The three points are on the board and the Scottish Premiership leaders are no further out of reach and that will be all that’s remembered from this snoozefest.

van Bronckhorst would have preferred his team to run all over St. Johnstone and scored five or six on the night, as many supporters did too, but it was another off night for the Gers.

Maybe that isn’t a bad thing though? The Light Blues are picking up wins when they are well below their best in the league.

Imagine what they could do when they do play to their potential. It is a scary thought for everyone else in the league and Celtic do not want the fight against a firing Rangers side.

In other Rangers news, furious shareholders in the club have reacted to a big development ahead of next season.
