Tom English makes Postecoglou joke amid Rangers v Celtic friendly announcement

Tom English has joked about Ange Postecoglou receiving a guard of honour after the Rangers v Celtic friendly was made official.

The Old Firm derby is set to be held in Australia which will be the first time ever the game will be played in a foreign country.

It is set to take place during the World Cup 2022 period and the players competing in the tournament will not feature in this friendly.

Via his personal Twitter account, BBC’s English wrote, “Will the other clubs form a guard of honour to welcome Ange back home?”

Bizarre

It makes little sense to have an Old Firm game overseas, let alone in the country of a manager of one of the two clubs.

The best thing is to keep the games in Glasgow and allow both sets of fans inside the stadiums.

It will be weird that Celtic and Rangers fans will both be in the same ground for the first time in a few years to watch the Old Firm and it will not be held in Scotland.

Beating Postecoglu’s men in his home country will make this all the more sweeter.

However, we’re not sure how seriously Giovanni van Bronckhorst will take this tournament.

It will be the perfect time to give the team a breather and get them ready for when the action commences post the World Cup.

Hopefully, none of the Gers players suffer any serious injuries from playing in the competition.
