Andy Walker slams Ryan Kent display in Rangers 1-0 win v St Johnstone

Andy Walker was less than impressed by Ryan Kent’s quiet performance for Rangers in their 1-0 win against St Johnstone on Wednesday night.

Glen Kamara’s early goal was enough for the Light Blues to secure all three points and ensure that a four-point gap to Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic was maintained.

Rangers struggled to create many chances throughout the 90 minutes at McDiarmid Park and ex-Celtic man Walker feels that Kent, 25, was to blame for that.

“He’s gone quiet, Ryan Kent. [There’s] not that usual sharpness,” said Walker on Sky Sports Main Event on Wednesday night [08:57pm, 2 March]

“Normally he’s the one who can get the ball in the middle of the park, create something, go past players and change the whole picture.”

Woeful

It was like Rangers’ attackers didn’t bother turning up other than Alfredo Morelos against St Johnstone.

Other than our Europa League victory over Borussia Dortmund and strong performances against Hearts and Hibs, we’ve been utterly useless since the winter break ended.

Our wins have been laboured, players are looking shattered, van Bronckhorst doesn’t even bother making substitutes anymore and star men like Kent have lost their sparkle.

Van Bronckhorst had an initial spell that was brilliant but it feels as though we’re worse now than we were under Steven Gerrard earlier this season.

Celtic have improved to the point that they’re four points clear at the top of the league and have room to drop points.

We don’t have that room and we know that we’ll drop points based on the way we’re struggling to win against St Johnstone.

Can van Bronckhorst survive this if we don’t win the league?

In other Rangers news, there’s been a major update on the Gers’ bid to sign this “fantastic” new player in the summer.
