Official Rangers partner absolutely furious with ‘unbelievably bad’ Old Firm decision

Rangers’ official media partner David Edgar is absolutely furious with the club’s decision to play a friendly against Celtic in Australia next season.

It was confirmed today [2 March] that the Gers will head Down Under in November to play in the inaugural Sydney Super Cup.

Rangers will play Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers in the friendly competition while the first-ever game against Celtic outside of Scotland will also be played.

It’s a decision that’s led to widespread condemnation from Gers supporters and Edgar, who owns the Heart & Hand Podcast, tweeted how appalling he finds it.

“A hard, hard ‘no’ to this. Unbelievably bad decision,” he said via the Heart & Hand Podcast’s Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon.

Gobsmacked

We genuinely cannot come to terms with this.

Rangers’ board has sat down and really thought that playing a “friendly” match against Celtic would be a good idea.

What on earth are they playing at?

This is a football club that refuses to call us by our name, trademarks the Old Firm to call it the Glasgow Derby and does whatever it can to talk us down.

They’re our biggest and fiercest of rivals and we wouldn’t even expect this kind of behaviour from the teams in the English Premier League.

Celtic fans must be feeling the same way about this too and we really hope the Gers backtrack as soon as possible and apologise to the fans.

It’s the sort of decision that people should be losing their jobs over, we just cannot understand how anyone thought this would be a good idea.

Rumours started about this a day or so ago and the reaction would have been seen on social media.

Complete and utter greed has driven this move.

In other Rangers news, a midfielder is expected to be axed for the clash with St Johnstone after what van Bronckhorst said on Tuesday.
