Tom English shares instant reaction to Rangers and Celtic developments on Twitter

Tom English has shared his instant reaction to Rangers and Celtic taking part in a four-team tournament in Australia later this year.

Celtic confirmed the tournament in an official post this afternoon but had the audacity not to name the Bears.

English admitted it was nothing more than a “decent earner” but a difficult one for those who insist there is no such thing as the Old Firm.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, English shared his instant reaction to the major development on Tuesday.

“After renewing the ‘Old Firm’ trademark, Celtic and Rangers now seemingly tapping into their rivalry by playing each other in Australia in what is presumably a decent earner,” he said.

“A difficult one for the ‘there’s no such thing as the Old Firm’ brigade.”

Earner.

This is nothing more than a strange move.

Rangers going to Australia makes little sense, but Celtic going there for Ange Postecoglou at least makes some sort of sense.

This means nothing right now, and we have to concentrate on the Scottish Premiership and making sure that doesn’t get away.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst needs to concentrate on the league and leaves these matters to the likes of Ross Wilson, who is clearly thinking of the financial gains.

Rangers need to win most of their remaining games, including the Old Firms in order to lift that Scottish Premiership title, and that is the priority.

It is time to get the announcement out of the way and concentrate on matters closer to home right now.
