Juan Alegria leaves Rangers to join Partick Thistle on loan, could make debut tonight – report

Rangers talent Juan Alegria has left the club to join Partick Thistle on a loan move until the end of the season.

The Scottish Sun has reported in the past 24 hours that the Colombian could even make his debut this evening against Arbroath.

It is reported that if he doesn’t make that game, he could feature on Friday in another big outing against Inverness and Derek McInnes.

Rangers

This is a smart move.

Partick Thistle are among the big group of clubs pushing for promotion to the Scottish Premiership, and this is all about exposure.

Alegria arrived from Finland just as Alfredo Morelos did in the summer, but it looks as though he will need to be more patient.

Constant first-team football in higher leagues that the Lowland will be behind this decision, and it has to be lauded.

Close.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst and his team, likely Zeb Jacobs will be keeping a close eye on the development of Alegria.

The Bufalo is still number one at Ibrox with Kemar Roofe behind, but we need plans for the future in place.

It would be no surprise to see clubs come in for him again in the summer, and having a ready-made replacement would be smart.

You don’t always have to throw money at your issues if you have brought up stunning youth talents closer to home.

Having said that, Alegria is still likely some time off that status, so let’s hope he is a quick learner while at Thistle.

With his debut potentially as early as this evening, it will be interesting to see how he looks in the midst of heightened opposition.
