Brian Laudrup destroys Rangers January transfer business

Rangers legend Brian Laudrup has held back no punches in his brutal assessment of the Light Blues January transfer business.

The Gers fell flat after Motherwell equalised at Ibrox but Giovanni van Bronckhorst only made one substitution in Kemar Roofe to turn the game around.

Laudrup was left bewildered as a wealth of Bears talent failed to feature, not for the first time.

Following the Gers’ draw, he told Daily Mail: “You could argue about a need to change personnel. But, for me, there is now an obvious concern on that front when you think back to the January window.

“Look at Sunday as a perfect example. After Motherwell pulled it back to 2-2 with 14 minutes remaining, you think it’s time to put on someone capable of making a difference in an attacking sense. A player who can create things and deliver a breakthrough.

“We all know it takes time to gel at a new club. But, for differing reasons, it seems Diallo, Ramsey and Sands haven’t convinced Van Bronckhorst that they are yet able to go and take on major responsibility in this title race. For me, that’s a huge problem.”

Underwhelming

The excitement in Glasgow when the players were announced in the January transfer window was immense.

Aaron Ramsey was compared to Paul Gascoigne, Amad Diallo was a hugely talented starlet coming from Premier League giants Manchester United and James Sands also came in with a lot of promise.

Unfortunately, not one of them has lived up to what was expected of them.

Everyone knew Ramsey was touch and go with injuries but you don’t understand the extent of how bad until he spends the amount of time out injured as he already has done for Rangers in such a short period of time.

He was always unlikely to stay in Glasgow after his loan due to financial reasons and his lack of game time only increased that.

Diallo was brilliant on his debut, scoring just minutes into it whilst showing all the skill he possesses but his form had dipped majorly since.

Sands on the other hand has a little bit more time than his fellow loaned teammates. His 18-month deal means he can find his feet this season and hopefully kick on next.
