Rangers ace is ‘one to watch’ according to Kenny Dalglish
There was a lot of praise dished out after Rangers overcame Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday and it still hasn’t stopped.
James Tavernier’s brace helped the Light Blues over the line but it is one of his defensive partners who has received the latest wave of high praise.
Calvin Bassey was one of the real standouts at Ibrox and Sir Kenny Dalglish is very impressed by what he sees in the Nigerian.

“I have to say Calvin Bassey was outstanding,” the Scottish football legend said in his Sunday Post column.
“He has just turned 22, but he played with maturity, and showed his positional sense and tactical knowledge to switch seamlessly from left centre-back to left wing-back in the second half.
“Calvin has lovely feet, a great turn of pace and is powerfully built. He, most definitely, is one to watch.”
Rangers’ best defender
Tavernier and Connor Goldson often steal the headlines on a more regular basis at the back but Bassey is maybe the best of the bunch.

He is rarely seen sliding in or attempting a desperate last-ditch tackle because he has exemplary positioning off the ball.
He is always in the right place and the rare times where he is beaten, he has the pace and strength to claw back any advantage given to the opposition.
The 22-year-old is perhaps best as a left-back where he can use his never-ending energy supply to bomb up and down the flank all day and all night.
That gets severely limited when he plays in the middle but it is still a very useful asset to have.
If he keeps on this upward trajectory, he could quickly become the main man at Ibrox and maybe earn the club a healthy profit in the not too distant future.
In other Rangers news, this Red Star Belgrade star admits he couldn’t believe this about the Gers ahead of their Europa League clash.
