Alex Rae and Ally McCoist take aim at Thomas Meunier not booked v Rangers

Alex Rae and Ally McCoist were left stunned that Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier wasn’t booked in the first half against Rangers.

The Belgian international made a couple of fouls in the opening 15 minutes, the second one on Ryan Kent the worst.

Rae insisted that it was “cynical” and that he didn’t even attempt to win the ball and just went for the man.

Speaking on live coverage of the clash on BT Sport this evening, Rae kickstarted the argument.

“It’s cynical there,” he said. “He’s not even trying to win the ball.”

McCoist agreed and couldn’t believe his eyes that the Spanish official didn’t bring out his cards early on.

“He’s very lucky not to get a yellow card there.”

Last laugh.

Kent was simply terrorising Meunier for the entire first-half especially, and the Belgian star just couldn’t cope.

The winger won the penalty only minutes later, with Borna Barisic taking his opposite number out of the game with an overlap.

If Scott Arfield had squared the ball when the clear option was on, he would have finished the first half with a simple goal to his name too.

This is the Kent we were crying out for earlier in the season, and he has been in sensational form for the past couple of months.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst will be desperate to keep his star man in this kind of form, he will be critical in the months to come this season.
