Joe Miller attacks Rangers form, backs Giorgos Giakoumakis comments that Celtic are better
Rangers have bigger things to worry about than Giorgos Giakoumakis’ comments about Celtic being better, according to former Bhoy Joe Miller.
The Greek striker claimed the Light Blues were inferior in “every single part of the team” (via Football Scotland) after his hat-trick against Dundee at the weekend, leading to ex-Ger Maurice Ross to blast him as having a “lack of class” (Daily Record) and suggest the comments would motivate the Ibrox side.
But 54-year-old former Celtic attacker Miller disagrees, telling Football Scotland: “It’s all rubbish. At the end of the day, Rangers have got to think about why they keep collapsing every year after New Year, and it’s the same this year.

“Their form after Christmas just goes. Last year’s scenario was different because they were so far in front and Celtic were playing catch up.
“I don’t think they’ll have even discussed Giakoumakis’ comments in the dressing room.
“[Celtic haven’t] lost any games domestically since September. You look at Rangers’ form since the New Year, I think they’ve dropped nine points.
“Celtic have got the better squad. They’ve got players back fit. There’s one or two still to return.”
Tough talk
For all it is likely to wind up Gers fans it is probably fairly accurate that Giovanni van Bronckhorst and his team will be concentrating more on form than Celtic quotes.
The wobble after the winter break that culminated in the drubbing at Parkhead looked to have been overcome after four-straight wins.
But a frustrating draw at Dundee United has raised some doubts again.

The two dropped points at Tannadyce could partly be put down to a psychological lull following the wonderful 4-2 win in Dortmund last week.
And Rangers fans will rightly point to that result in contrast to their Glasgow neighbours’ meek defeat to Bodo/Glimt to counter Miller and Giakoumakis’ comments.
Celtic have undoubtedly been strong in the league, as their position at the top of the table shows, but they have had an element of luck in getting there, securing late winners to capitalise on Gers draws twice.
The gap at the top is still only three points so it won’t take much for the momentum to swing back the other way, but the domestic form since the turn of the year is a slight worry so far.
