Rangers impatient to push ahead with VAR despite soaring financial cost – report

Rangers are impatient to push ahead with the introduction of VAR within the Scottish Premiership, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Bears alongside Celtic are pushing hard for the introduction of the technology, but other clubs are dragging their feet.

It is suggested that the soaring bill, which looks set to reach £100,000-per-annum despite an initial projected price of only £60,000.

It comes after a weekend of major controversy within Scottish football.

Rangers were denied two clear penalties in their 1-1 draw against Dundee United, with Ross Graham somehow staying on the pitch.

Celtic’s win over Dundee on the same day also featured incidents for both sides that would have gone to the technology.

All 12 clubs are set to vote on the matter is set to be delayed until Spring, with a compromise on the price hopefully sorted.

Needed.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was left fuming after the draw at Tannadice, and he had every single right to be looking back at the game.

Graham nearly ripped the shirt of the back of Fashion Sakala who was about to tap home, and yet Bobby Madden (no surprise) and his assistants missed it.

That came after he wasn’t punished for basically punching the ball clear and already being booked for a tug on Alfredo Morelos.

It makes no sense that both of these incidents were missed, with Madden nowhere near either incident in the end.

Scotland needs to catch up with those around them, and the first step to doing that would be to introduce VAR, it’s time to move with the times.
