Keith Hackett: Ryan Jack set for three-match ban after Rangers challenge v Dundee United

We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive Rangers columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Ibrox

Keith Hackett has insisted that Ryan Jack will be set for a three-match ban after Rangers draw against Dundee United on Sunday.

The ex-FIFA official admitted that the midfielders’ challenge on Dylan Levitt was an absolute red card and will be punished.

The SFA panel will be, no doubt, looking into the challenge with the worst outcome expected and warned by Hackett.

“Absolute red card,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.

“I think this one is definitely for the panel.”

After being quizzed on whether Jack will be handed a ban, Hackett admitted it was in the future.

“Absolutely, three matches,” he said.

“The player is out of control, he knows exactly what he is doing, there’s a bit of frustration in it, he should walk.”

Just as Jack was getting back to his best and welcoming some consistency into his game, this is the last thing that he needs.

It was a poor challenge, we all know that but what happened to the challenge on Jack against Hearts which caused injury weeks ago?

This SFA panel like handing out retrospective bans, but there has to be some sort of consistency to their decision making.

Expect some fireworks should this ban come to light sooner rather than later at Ibrox, with important games ahead.
