Leanne Crichton stunned by Calvin Bassey in Rangers draw v Dundee United

Leanne Crichton has singled out Calvin Bassey for his “Perfect” involvement in Rangers equaliser against Dundee United.

The BBC pundit was wowed by the Nigerian after he switched back to the left and delivered an assist for Joe Aribo.

In what was a disappointing afternoon at Tannadice, there were plenty of chances and shocking decisions that didn’t help.

Speaking on BBC Sportscene last night (20 February) Crichton singled out the left-back for his role in the equaliser.

“It’s wonderful play,” she said.

“Combination play, I think Calvin Bassey plays a huge part in it as well, I thought he was excellent as well because he has gone from being that centre-half to that left-back.

“It’s not a seamless transition and the timing of his runs, this cut back is inch-perfect, exactly what Joe Aribo needs.”

Perfect.

This was the difference between one and three points.

Bassey delivered the perfect ball for Aribo to slam home, and other balls into the box were dangerous but just not right for an easy finish.

Fashion Sakala delivered some dangerous balls into the box, but he smashed them either at 100mph at Alfredo Morelos, or into the woodwork.

It’s all good being dangerous, but sometimes you have to take a little off it and give those in the box an easy chance of tapping home.

We need to quickly re-find that form from Germany ahead of the return leg against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday, or it could be a long evening – let’s hope not.
